Gold Just Is
POETRYLOVESUPPORTSELF-WORTH
For much less treasure men have fought
But gold just IS
And glows in sunlight without a thought
Hope comes easy when no one tries
I tell myself
From somewhere stumbles in with glistening eyes
Then the talks
The tears
The time
She hardens her heart and says she’s fine
But what am I to do with mine?
Songs and rhymes and poems won’t do
Not anymore
Not since you smiled and laughed and I saw you
Who like us have a chance to live?
To be ourselves?
To find in another something in us to forgive?
So breathe
So bear
So be
And endure your hardships gracefully
When you can't then lean on me
